About the Tri-Cities Tri-Cities Links | History of the Tri-Cities In the wide open expanse of south central Washington, Kennewick is proud of its clean air, clear blue skies and its warm and friendly people. Kennewick, with its sister cities of Richland and Pasco make up a metropolitan area known as the Tri-Cities. Kennewick is largest with a population of 48,010. Combined with nearby communities, the population of the greater Tri-Cities area is in excess of 150,000. Because we are on the sunny side of the Cascade Mountains, rainfall averages only about seven inches each year. Combined with moderate temperatures summer and winter, there is no end to the outdoor recreation opportunities. July temperatures average 92 degrees in the day and 60 degrees at night. The median low temperature in winter is 33.5 degrees. Agriculture is a strong part of Kennewick's economy, with thousands of acres of irrigated as well as dryland farming on all sides. Because of the mild climate, this is also a gardeners paradise. While winter temperatures may get below freezing occasionally, rarely do they ever drop to zero or below. The mild climate has also allowed development of one of the fastest growing segments of our economic base. Premium wineries have sprung up through the region, challenging traditional California wineries for quality and variety. Area Links: ©2002-2009 S K Real Estate, Inc.
